Antwerp Zoo

As you may remember, visiting the Antwerp Zoo was part of my to do-list for this year. I'm at my happiest when I am in a zoo; I could go every single day and never feel bored. The last time I've been to the Antwerp Zoo was fifteen years ago though. I was there for a press conference and it was raining cats and dogs, so I didn't see many animals. Before that, I only visited this zoo when I was a child. So after our visit to the Parc animalier de Bouillon in May, Gilles and I decided this past Tuesday to indulge ourselves once more in our passion for animals. Here are a few snapshots of our visit.

From top to bottom: tiger, Antwerp Zoo, pink flamingos, red-billed curassow, crested caraca, penguins, white-lipped tree frog, golden poison frog, rhinoceros iguana, spectacled owls, okapi, giraffes and zebras.

What is your favorite zoo?

  1. Thanks for stopping by Lovin' The Weekend Blog Hops last week. Just stopping by to say HI
This looks like a wonderful zoo. It's been a while since we've gone to a zoo.
    Have a great weekend

  2. A couple of days ago, our family visited the Riyadh Zoo. It’s a very nice place to either have a picnic, eat some ice cream or see some animals (of course). I tried to snap some animals while I was there but mostly I tried to snap the people around – the black (burka clad women) and white (thobe clad men) world of Saudi Arabia. After all, I am on a mission to prove to the world that we, Muslims, are normal people although we perhaps dress a little conservatively (Saudis more than anyone else) but we don’t mean anybody any harm while doing so.

  3. Gah! Those are beautiful pictures. I love and hate going to the zoo. I think it's a lot of fun, but I always feel so bad for the animals! I've been to lots of zoo's, but one of my favorites was the St. Louis Zoo. It was huge, and it was free!

  4. @Katie Cross: Today’s zoos have evolved and are much more sophisticated than the ones I visited more than 20 years ago. They’re developed to resemble the natural habitats of each animal, allowing them to roam, mate, and feed as they would have anywhere else in the world.

  5. I love the pics of the Antwerp Zoo! Especially the ones of the white-lipped tree frog and the golden poison frog.

  6. You got lots of amazing pictures here. I love the owls!

  8. I'm a huge fan of zoos. I have been taking my daughter almost once a week to our local one. Right now her favorite animals are the bears and peacocks. She could jibber jabber to the bears all day long.

Thank you for linking up to Raising Imperfection!
Make sure to check back on Friday to see if you were featured.

  9. Wow .. that is amazing! I love zoos and Reagan and I go as often as possible. Our quaint little zoo is small but some of my favorites include the Philadelphia Zoo and San Francisco!
