HORROR BOOK GIVEAWAY - WHEN ANIMALS ATTACK

horror book giveaway

The Offscreen Film Festival, Belgium's indispensable cult film festival, launches its 14th edition on 8 September. This year's program is structured around a hot topical theme: the climate crisis and the consequences of mankind's disrespect of nature.

As an amuse-bouche, the festival will be giving away five copies of a book that takes a deep dive into some of the films on the menu: WHEN ANIMALS ATTACK: THE 70 BEST HORROR MOVIES WITH KILLER ANIMALS. To win one of these books, all you have to like Offscreen's Instagram, Twitter and/or Facebook post about the book and leave a comment with the title of your favorite eco-horror movie.

The winners will be announced on Offscreen's social media pages on Saturday 4 September. Good luck!

Top Five Spiritual Documentaries

spiritual documentaries

Laura Emily teaches us to appreciate and notice our inner being. In her new book, Embracing Your Divinity, she takes the reader on a journey through her own experiences. Laura teaches us to listen to the universe and allow ourselves to follow the path the universe is trying to take us on. She tries to make us understand that even though we may not think the universe is on our side or that things are not meant to happen, something has not happened yet because we, as individuals, are not yet ready to receive this event. Once we accept the universe's plan and allow things to happen, whether they are good or bad, only then can we truly reach our full potential.

To celebrate the release of Embracing Your Divinity, Laura Emily shares her top five spiritual documentaries (two of which are about food because "food is spiritual" as she puts it) and gives away an eBook to one lucky reader.

Best movie couples of all time

best movie couples

This is a guest post by Kristina Knight, author of Breakup in a Small Town.

I am a sucker for a great movie couple – Joan Wilder and Jack T. Colton (Romancing the Stone), Vivien and Edward (Pretty Woman), and Jack and Rose (Titanic) are all on my list. I like couples that banter, couples that laugh together, couples that are hot for each other…even if they’d lost a little of that sparkle.

Here are a few of my favorite movie couples.

Caturday Movies - Chatty Catties

talking cats movie

Have you ever imagined a reality where cats could talk? Wouldn't that be awesome?

But what if your cat tells you he doesn't understand what your date sees in you and that you have a drinking problem? Would you still think talking cats are cool?

The American indie comedy Chatty Catties takes place in such universe. At the center of the film is the tabby cat Leonard (voice of deaf actor John Autry II). His "relationship" with Shelby (Megan Hensley) isn't exactly fulfilling. She's a borderline alcoholic who whines all the time and is on the brink of losing her job. But then Shelby starts dating Nate (Matthew Grathwol), and the world seems a better place again, not because Shelby becomes emotionally stable, but because Nate is everything Leonard ever wished for in a human.

Top ten kick-ass supernatural heroines

top ten kick-ass supernatural heroines

This is a guest post by Amanda Jones.

We spend a lot of time dreaming about our favorite Hottie Mc-Hot-Hot supernatural heroes (well, I do at any rate!), but what about the kickass heroines that put the entire genre to shame? I don’t know about you, but a story with a drool worthy hero AND a confident, booty kicking leading lady is a recipe for MY list of favorites any day!

Some way, somehow, these tough as nails women find a way to beat down their rivals (both physically AND mentally) without breaking a nail. Why am I so drawn to these particular leading ladies? No matter what trials and tribulations they go through, you can’t keep a good woman down! Each and every one of them comes back swinging twice as hard. They’re tough and feminine, strong and vulnerable, beautiful and intelligent. These ladies aren’t afraid to speak their minds and don’t deign to suffer douchebaggery of any variety. I don’t know about you, but I’d be more than happy to strike fear into the realm of the supernatural for all those reasons!
