My book signing at Cook and Book in Brussels
My latest book signing and reading took place at Cook and Book in Brussels, Belgium. This mix between a restaurant and a bookstore is one of my favorite places to hang out in Brussels, so I was really delighted to be invited to talk about my books Drowned Sorrow and The Strangers Outside.

Soul, known as “The Drifter”, is looking for his childhood friend, Horace, called “The Fatman”; he lost sight of him when he was sent to war in Iraq. He wants to find him back, because it was his only friend ever… or isn’t it rather because the Fatman owes him a few bucks? Anyway. One day, he shows up at the door of a Bureau for Private Investigations. Another man is on the Fatman’s track, a police inspector called Bob Bludgeon. He is investigating on the Fatman who could possibly be the cause of the disappearance of a hundred prostitutes in town in the last four years. It looks like one of the worst cases of serial killing worldwide. In the office of the Bureau for Private Investigations, is sitting Jocelyn, a young woman lost in a past romance, perceiving reality in a pretty distorted way, collecting pictures of nuclear explosions and looking at them with a childish fascination. Dark secrets link all these characters together. Secrets that will be revealed on the edge of a precipice.

Pourvu que le beau temps soit de la partie, les séances de cinéma en plein air programmées au coeur de l'été sont toujours un grand moment. Tous les mercredis en juillet et août, le rendez-vous est fixé à 21h30 place du Temps Libre, face au Woluwe Shopping Centre. Le grand mur du théâtre du Centre Culturel Wolubilis se transforme alors en écran géant. "Potiche" sera projeté le 6 juillet. Suivront "La Pivellina" (13 juillet), "Les émotifs anonymes" (20 juillet), "Black Swan" (27 juillet), "Illégal" (03 août), "Le discours d'un roi" (10 août), "Les femmes du 6e étage" (17 août), "L'Agence" (24 août) et enfin "True Grit" (31 août). Les séances sont gratuites!

ReplyDeleteLes Fêtes Romanes, Festival des Arts de la Rue marqueront l’ouverture de la saison ’11-’12 de Wolubilis. Artistes de rue, acrobates, jongleurs, circassiens, plasticiens, danseurs,… feront bouillonner la place du Temps Libre et ses alentours avec en point d’orgue le samedi soir un exceptionnel spectacle de cirque actuel et une parade aérienne peu commune.
Pour la première fois, un lieu sera réservé aux performances plastiques, mettant en évidence leur potentiel d’intégration dans l’espace urbain. De jeunes lauréats de nombreux concours dont celui du Prix Médiatine et de différentes expositions/performances ont été sélectionnés pour cette édition.
Dans le foyer du théâtre et à l’Artothèque, une exposition sur « Le Corps Voyageur » et une sélection d’œuvres récemment intégrées dans la collection du service de prêt d’oeuvres d’art vous emmènera au bord de plus larges horizons.
Un marché de créateurs contemporains titillera votre curiosité et des mets variés vous mettront en appétit ! Alors notez bien ces dates ! Un vent créatif soufflera à Wolubilis durant tout le week-end !
