This is a guest post by Hilary Grossman.
I like to think that I have an open mind. But deep down I know that is usually not totally the case. Take movies for example. I will give pretty much any genre a chance, except for science fiction…
For my entire life, whenever I heard the words Star Wars I would cringe. I knew the series weren’t for me. I boasted I never watched one movie, and I never planned on sitting through one either.
Then my husband had surgery – it was minor. He had to have a deviated septum repaired and polyps removed from his nose. As he sat in the hospital bed, waiting for the procedure, the TV was on. Big news was breaking about a new Star Wars movie – The Force Awakens. For hours before and after his surgery we were updated on the new movie.
He was released from the hospital that evening. He was in discomfort and quite groggy. He needed a quiet night. I made him a light dinner and suggested we curl up on the couch and watch a movie. And since he was the one who had the surgery, I let him pick the flick….
When he said Star Wars I wanted to convince him to pick something else. Given the day he had, I couldn’t bring myself to utter one word. I just wrapped my blanket around myself tightly and tried to will myself to go to sleep. Sleep wouldn’t come. I was too wired from spending a day in a hospital to rest. So I did the unexpected. I opened my mind and tried to focus on the movie.
It wasn’t easy. I had a lot of questions. I got confused easily. But by the midway point, I was hooked! For the next week, I eagerly watched all the episodes. My husband was delighted and I was shocked. But I loved every second. And when the newest movie was finally released, about six months later, I was the one who insisted on seeing it opening weekend.

Hilary Grossman's new novel, Plan Cee, is now available for pre-order.
Would you abandon your present for a second chance at your past?
Cecelia Reynolds has spent most of her life trying to forget the commitment-phobic man who broke her heart. It wasn’t easy, but eventually, she did it, or so she thought…
As Cecelia and her husband gather for a friend’s wedding, her perfect world is thrown into complete turmoil. Even though it’s been twenty years since she last laid eyes on Keith Emerson, all it takes is one glance for her to feel emotions she thought were long gone. When Keith ends up officiating the ceremony, she quickly realizes his message of love is directed at her, not the happy couple. But can she believe him?
We live our entire lives thinking we know ourselves. But do we ever really?
As secrets and lies cause Cecelia’s world to spin completely out of control, she is forced to seek advice from the most unlikely ally. In the process, she must confront the demons of her past and the events that shaped her into the woman she is now. Will she finally learn the real meaning of love, friendship, and family?
While this book is a sequel to Plan Bea, it also reads as a standalone.

Glad you gave Star Wars a chance! It was a big influence on me. It's space opera, which is more accessible than other types of science fiction.
ReplyDeleteI loved Star Wars from way back when I was kid it seemed like stepping into a different world. There was a blip a few years ago, those dreadful 'In between' movies. But the last two have the same magic (or as close as it can get0 to the originals. For me, of course. :)

I have absolutely no reason to go back to the past or want a second chance at anything back there. I love the present, and I truly believe that everything happens for a reason in life and if you want something changed then you change it from here on out. Looking forward...that's where it's at.

ReplyDeleteMy husband and I have been having lots of problems living together, he never gives me attention or makes me happy because he has fallen in love with another woman outside our marriage. I tried my best to make sure that my husband leaves this woman but the more I talk to him about it the more he makes me feel sad and unhappy, My marriage started leading to divorce because he no longer gives me attention. I wanted to forget him but i love him and didn't want to lose him. We have been married for years and he is all I could call a true best friend and best in all, the man that handles my problems perfectly, the man that makes sacrifices for my happiness. I wanted him back in my life badly and I was so confused. My Friends told me to buy books about relationships, so I went online for relationship books while I came across a spell caster called Dr Emu. I read testimonies and reviews about him so I contacted him immediately, explained my problems to him. Same day , he casted a spell for me and assured me for 2 days that my husband will return to me and to my greatest surprise the third day my husband came knocking on my door and begged for forgiveness. I am so happy that my love is back again and not only that, we are about to get married again, he proposed. I wouldn't stop talking about him. Contact him today if you need his help via email: emutemple@gmail.com and you will see that your problem will be solved without any delay. Website: https://emutemple.wordpress.com/
